Hej hej! Welcome to colorblock workshop, the home of art explorations from Amanda Tholen Long.
Though trained in sculpture, the minimizing of my studio to move to Scandinavia (and then again back to the Midwest, phew!) has me picking up a paintbrush more often, mostly to document the books I've checked off my reading list or to capture people I love on paper. (See my series love letters, a portrait project here.) A needle and thread, however, are my true loves, and I am rarely without them. Working out landscapes I'm surrounded by in the form of a quilt, and hand beading landscapes to describe our relationship with the sun (and, sometimes, the absence of it), have been recent interests.
